FOREIGN LANGUAGE EACHING IN AN AGRARIAN UNIVERSITY

Abstract

Background. Changes in the agricultural education system of the modern Russia are caused by the necessity of studying the formation of the intercultural competence in the process of profession-oriented foreign language teaching. One of the problems of agricultural education is a failure to provide the required number of competitive specialists in the field of agriculture, having a high level of foreign language of different profiles. The aim of the work is to analyze the process of intercultural competence formation in students regarding the reality of the educational process in an agrarian university.
Materials and methods. Realization of the research objectives was achieved through usage of modern intensive methods of foreign language teaching. The study highlights the contextual approach, according to which the emphasis is placed on the formation of professional motivation of a person. The use of the communicative approach involves communication between people, formation of verbal-logical thinking in a foreign language. Active forms of teaching promote formation of the intercultural competence.
Results. The author analyzed the existing real conditions of foreign language teaching among students of an agrarian university. The article considers the features of the professional foreign language communication teaching and points out the main features of the intercultural competence.
Conclusions. The study of formation of the intercultural competence in the profession-oriented foreign language teaching in an agrarian university allows to raise the educational process to the next level, to form a student’s current value attitude towards a foreign language culture and its people.
